Expectations, and Tips to Get the Most Out of Your 30 Minute Photo Shoot!

Mini sessions move quickly, but when you come prepared, they deliver big results. After photographing hundreds, I’ve built a system that captures high-impact, personality-filled images in just 30 minutes (yes, even with toddlers). Whether you’re booking a seasonal holiday session or one of my rare pop-up dates, here’s how to maximize your mini session so you can get the most out of your investment!

What to Expect From Me

Mini sessions are fast-paced and intentionally structured — designed to get incredible results in very little time. From the moment you arrive, we jump right in. I’ll have the lighting, scene, and flow fully prepped so there’s no warm-up period. Instead, I guide you through natural prompts and quick transitions to create a full gallery that feels dynamic, connected, and real.

That said, it’s a two-way street. To make the magic happen, you have to meet me halfway — by showing up on time, dressed, and ready to go. When you bring the energy, I can do the rest. And trust me, even if your session feels chaotic or you swear your toddler didn’t smile once… I always get the shot. You’ll always walk away with 25 curated images and a gallery that looks like we spent the day together!

Because mini sessions move quickly, every detail matters. That’s why I guide you with intention from start to finish — no wasted time, no awkward pauses. Meanwhile, I’m watching for those little in-between moments: the hand-hold, the hair tuck, the burst of laughter. In just 30 minutes, we capture the essence of your family — not by rushing, but by moving with purpose. And if things feel a little wild? That’s often when the real magic shows up. After all, some of my favorite photos come from the beautifully unscripted chaos.

What I Expect From You

These sessions are booked back-to-back, so timing matters. Here’s how to show up:

  • Arrive 10 minutes early — if you’re late, that time comes out of your session.
  • Be dressed and ready to go — avoid last-minute shoes or snack cleanups.
  • Prep your kids with snacks, naps, and a quick “this will be fun and fast” pep talk.
  • Trust the process — I know exactly how to lead fast-moving sessions and get the gold.
  • Leave the shot list at home, we are here for the moments!

Top Tips to Maximize Your Mini Session

1. Choose simple, comfortable outfits.
Go for textures, movement, and tones that photograph beautifully. Skip anything overly tight or fussy — nothing should compete for attention or make you feel uncomfortable.

2. Leave the extras in the car.
Toss the big bags, phones, and snack stash in the backseat — we’ll be moving quickly, and hands-free is always better.

3. Use mini bribes with intention.
Bring a small treat for after the session — gummy bears, lollipops, or something fun can work wonders with little ones.

4. Focus on play, not perfection.
Don’t worry about perfect smiles or stiff posing. I’ll guide you through natural prompts that bring out real connection and joy.

5. Snag your spot as soon as minis launch.
I only offer them during specific seasons — usually fall or spring — and they book out fast. If you want in, jump on it early!

6. PLEASE plan for the weather.
Even though sessions are short, the weather still plays a role. Bring layers, prep hair accordingly, and avoid anything that wilts (including people!).

7. Next, think about your shoes.
They might not be the focus, but they will show. Choose shoes that are comfortable, clean, and cohesive with your outfit — especially for kids.

8. Keep expectations realistic.
This isn’t a full-length lifestyle session — we’re working fast. Focus on connection over perfection, and trust that what we capture will still feel like you.

9. Also, leave time before and after your session.
Give yourself breathing room so you’re not rushing in or dashing out. A calm arrival can shift the whole mood (especially for little ones).

10. Finally, trust the process.
Even if it feels chaotic in the moment, it works. I’ve done this hundreds of times, and the magic always shows up — usually in the frames you least expect.
